1. What are the key upgrades of GO Ultra?

GO Ultra improves on several key areas when compared to GO 3S, namely image quality, battery life, and optionality in shooting styles.

With a 1/1.28" sensor, ambient light sensor, and 5nm AI chip, not only can GO Ultra shoot smooth and detailed 4K60fps footage, the new PureVideo and 4K Active HDR Modes increase the quality of video shot in environments that are dark or inconsistently lit.

Alongside this, the battery life of GO Ultra has been drastically increased: the Standalone Camera can shoot for 70 minutes, and this extends to 200 minutes when combined with the Action Pod. With the in-built fast charging capability, both batteries can be run down to 0 and then recharged to 80% in only 12 minutes.

Besides for these tech upgrades, the accessory range has been expanded to include items such as the Flexi Strap Mount and Sticky Tabs, which allow for even more mounting options, and the internal memory of GO 3S has been replaced with support for removable microSD cards.

2. Why does GO Ultra look so different to the other GO cameras?

GO Ultra is designed to be a flagship professional device whereas GO 3S is a cost-effective camera with a focus on portability.

If you are concerned about price and want the smallest possible camera, we recommend GO 3S, but if you want to film vlogs or active lifestyle footage, GO Ultra is the better option.

3. Why is GO Ultra heavier than GO 3S?

The 14g increase—roughly the weight of an empty soda can—is due to the larger lens and battery.

4. Why does GO Ultra have removable storage?

The limit imposed by the internal storage was a major pain point for GO 3S users, which has been resolved by switching to microSD card compatibility. The cards can be removed and replaced in only a few seconds, allowing for continuous shooting with GO Ultra.

5. Does GO Ultra get as hot as GO 3S when shooting in 4K?

When shooting in 4K30fps, GO Ultra stays significantly cooler than GO 3S, making it easier and safer to shoot POV style footage from a head- or chest-mounted position.

6. Is there still a minimum shooting distance?

Yes. All cameras have a minimum shooting distance, however, with GO Ultra it has been shortened to 30cm, down 20cm from the 50cm minimum shooting distance of GO 3S.
